Mission Statement

Dharma Ekklesia exists to explore what it means to live well — in relationship with ourselves, one another, the natural world, and the Divine.

Rooted in the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, the Vedas, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and Ayurveda, we seek not only to study these teachings, but to bring them into the ordinary moments of everyday life.

We believe spirituality is not an escape from life, but a way of learning to participate in it more consciously — with greater peace, integrity, responsibility, compassion and service.

At the heart of our work is dharma: learning to recognise what is true, discern what is ours to do, act with integrity, and surrender what lies beyond our control.

Through contemplation, education, spiritual practice and community, we create opportunities for people to explore these teachings for themselves and discover how ancient wisdom might illuminate the lives they are already living.

We do not come together because we have mastered the path.

We are learning to walk it together.

Our hope is to cultivate a community in which wisdom is not merely understood, but lived — within our homes, relationships, families, work, service and everyday choices.

A community devoted to walking in dharma — bringing wisdom into the way we live, love, serve and participate in the world.

About Dharma Ekklesia

Dharma Ekklesia is a community devoted to exploring the timeless wisdom of dharma and what it means to live well.

Rooted in the Hindu tradition and guided by the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, the Vedas, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and Ayurveda, we seek to bring ancient wisdom into the realities of everyday life.

For us, dharma is not simply something to study or understand. It is something to live — in the way we care for ourselves, tend our homes, nurture our relationships, raise our families, approach our work, serve our communities and participate in the world around us.Through contemplation, spiritual practice, education and community, Dharma Ekklesia creates a space to explore these teachings with curiosity and sincerity, and to discover how they might guide us toward greater alignment, responsibility, compassion and inner peace. We do not gather because we have mastered the path. We are learning to walk it together. Dharma Ekklesia is an invitation to bring wisdom into ordinary life — and to explore, together, the lifelong practice of living in dharma.

FAQ

What is Dharma?

Dharma is the ancient wisdom of living in right relationship — with ourselves, one another, the natural world and the Divine.

Dharma is a Sanskrit word with a depth of meaning that cannot be captured by a single English translation. Across Hindu philosophy and sacred texts, it can refer to cosmic order, right conduct, responsibility, truth and the particular way we are called to participate in life.

Dharma can be understood through several interconnected dimensions:

  • Cosmic Order — the underlying order and principles through which life and the universe are sustained.

  • Right Living — seeking to act with truth, integrity and wisdom, including when the right action is difficult or uncomfortable.

  • Responsibility — recognising what has been entrusted to us and responding faithfully to the roles, relationships and circumstances of our lives.

  • Our Particular Path — understanding that dharma is lived differently according to our nature, stage of life, responsibilities and circumstances.

What is Dharma Ekklesia ?

A gathering of people learning to walk in dharma and bring ancient wisdom into everyday life.

The name Dharma Ekklesia brings together two ideas.

Dharma points to right living — living in alignment with truth, responsibility, the natural order and the Divine.

Ekklesia means a gathering or assembly — people called together around a shared purpose.

Together, Dharma Ekklesia expresses what we hope to cultivate: a community where ancient wisdom is not only studied, but contemplated, practised and lived. A place to ask meaningful questions, deepen our understanding, support one another, and explore what it means to participate well in the lives we have been given. We are learning to walk the path together.

Who can get involved ?

Everyone is welcome.

Dharma Ekklesia is open to people from all walks of life, regardless of background, faith, or previous experience. You may have studied these teachings for many years, be encountering them for the first time, or simply feel curious about another way of understanding and living life.

Our foundations are rooted in the Hindu tradition and its ancient wisdom, particularly the Bhagavad Gita, the Vedas, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and Ayurveda. We honour the origins and depth of these traditions while welcoming people of different faiths, beliefs and spiritual paths.

You do not need to adopt a particular set of beliefs to participate. We invite you to come with curiosity, engage with the teachings thoughtfully, and explore for yourself how their wisdom might speak to your own life.

At Dharma Ekklesia, we are not gathering because we all believe exactly the same things. We are gathering to learn, contemplate, practise and grow together — and to explore what it means to walk in dharma and live well. Wherever you are on the path, there is a place for you here.
